Happily Ever After

On October 3rd President Barack Obama and The First Lady, Michelle, celebrated their 22nd Wedding Anniversary. The last few years their anniversary did not come at the grandest of times. But the great thing is the stayed committed to their vows to see yet another anniversary. The President stated  “I said, ‘It takes about 10 years to train a man properly, so you got to be patient with him because he will screw up a bunch, but eventually we learn, it just takes a little longer. We are not as smart’. So, Michelle has been very patient with me,” he said. This is very important when it comes to being committed to your spouse and the vows you made to each other. Love is a choice that you must continue to make daily for a prosperous marriage. Patience comes with love because is levels to relationships.

Happily ever after is not a fairytale, it just doesn’t happen over night like it does in the movies. With marriages today lasting about 8 years, according to studies, which is 2 years less than the time needed to actually get it together according to what President Obama says, its a long road. Based on the recently High divorce rates, many couples lose hope at the end of the road.  Within two or three years a couple typically gets engaged.Add that to another year or two before the wedding only leaves enough time to find out that you love a person and would like to spend the rest of your life with this person.  The first five years  after marriage couples will still be a getting to know each other. For this reason studies say the the first 5  to 10 years are the hardest. Because you still have to sort out the details of your lives. There are many issues, and unforeseen things that come about during a marriage that will challenge your commitment to your partner, but it is during those times you must remember the significance of the vows. They state:

“I, ___, take thee, ___, to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you.”

While there are other vows these vows remind us there is one that is apart of most union that is never really tapped into by many married couples, God. God, prayer and and communication with Him will help with trying times and will give guidance. Even more important is that God is Love and who better to teach someone how to love than God. As a lover of the fairytales and a believer of God the one thing they both gave me was Hope. This is the one thing Obama promised us during his first election, hope, especially  in God allows you to experience Happily Ever After, a love that stands the test of time.

“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

— I Corinthians 13:7

Angelina Jolie tied the knot to Brad Pitt on August 23 in France. Jolie wore a customized elegant satin gown with a classic veil. The Versace dress and veil included a personal touch with drawings created by the couple’s children sewed into the garments by master tailor, Luigi Massi. This family affair didn’t stop there, according to Glamour Magazine, the children and 20 guest also played a big part in the wedding considering the children wrote the vows and made the cake and her guests hummed ‘Here comes the Bride’ as Jolie walked down the aisle.

Reinvented: This wedding theme is great for the Budgeting Bride. Sewing you and your groom’s initials into the garment along the edge of either the veil dress or both is a great idea that won’t cost much. While kids may not be the first choice for making the cake or writing the vows, you can ask your grandmother or favorite Aunt that bakes well to bake the cake. Also, keep the idea of the guest humming ‘Here comes the Bride’, it’s very cute, cost effective, and a great way to involve everyone. Need help writing vows? Ask your parents to write from their own experiences also it is a great way to get insight for your future union. Keeping the guest list small makes it much more affordable for many venues. You can invite more people to celebrate with you at the reception. You can also choose to keep the affair at a relative’s house as Evan Ross and wife Ashely Simpson did.

At the request to the Bride and Groom female guest were asked to wear black tuxes with their choice of three different Bow ties, in which the Wade also had a hand in designing.

Reinvented: Requiring a dress code to your event is a great idea is used for many themes like this. It really brings out the ambiance while make for really great pictures. Adding a black belt to the wedding dress can give any simple dress a flair. Using white as a base color is generally cheaper than most other colors. Black is a very rich color and a little can go a long way so either be bold enough to use big pieces of Black sparingly or you can choose a black and white pattern. A splash of color well also give the room personality. Check out other inspired black and white ideas for less at The Dollar Store

Rapper and Actress, Eve married her boyfriend of 3 years, designer Maximillion Cooper June 14th. The couple wed in Ibiza, Spain to celebrate where the first met according to Perez Hilton. The Couple met at Maximillion’s Gumball 3000 car race which ended this year in Ibiza. The Bride wore a custom made high neck, lace design embellished with beading by Alice Temperly and a cathedral length veil. The dress also features a front slit and a beaded, jewel belt.

Reinvented: Well of course, most of us have wanted to fly across the world to get married at that perfect destination. But what about bringing the destination to you. That’s right think of that place and bring certain elements of the culture to where you can go. For example thinking of Italy, how about having your wedding and reception at a winery. The venue would be very different and elegant from most weddings you have attended because of that alone. Also choose an Italian inspired dinner selection which would include the traditional pasta, soup, and salad as well as stuffed mushrooms, olives, salami, pickled peppers, calamari, prosciutto that Italians love. For this and other culture inspired foods check out Delish.com. The lace dress look is perfect for this theme it gives it vintage look. For other wedding ideas follow me on Pintrest.
